Turbocraft Thunderclap: A Powerful Blend of Form and Function

Blending Timeless Elegance and Modern Aesthetics

The Turbocraft Design Team draws inspiration from the boating and automotive worlds to create the Thunderclap, a luxury day boat and tender that exudes elegance and refinement. With its unique design and innovative features, this boat is set to make waves in the marine industry.

The Thunderclap design reflects the brand's unique pedigree as an innovation pioneer in the marine industry. Taking cues from iconic cars of the 30s and classic runabout boats of the 60s, the curvy lines and distinctive elements of the Thunderclap evoke a sense of nostalgia and sophistication. The central fashion plate, inspired by modern automotive muscle cars, adds a touch of modernity to the design.

What sets the Thunderclap apart from other luxury boats is its focus on comfort and functionality. Every aspect of the boat is designed with the user in mind, from the sea stairs for easy boarding to the wrap-around windscreen and recessed sun bed. The deck layout, organized around a central piece of furniture, provides a functional circulation pattern, ensuring a seamless experience for passengers.

But it's not just the design that makes the Thunderclap stand out. The boat is built using sustainable and modern materials, staying true to the brand's innovation heritage. The hull is made of red cedar cold-molded wood and resins, while the deck and interior cabin integrate bio-sourced flax fibers, providing extra energy efficiency and noise insulation properties. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology is a world-premiere for a boat of this quality.

Technical specifications of the Thunderclap include a length overall of 1176cm, a beam of 343cm, and a draft of 60cm. With a light displacement of 6500 Kg, the boat is propelled by two waterjets HJ274 and two Volvo D6 370hp engines, allowing for a maximum speed of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots. The Thunderclap complies with the European RCD - Category 2 code, ensuring safety and reliability.

The Thunderclap's waterjet propulsion system brings unique characteristics to the boat. With low maintenance, unrivaled maneuverability, and lower fuel consumption, this system enhances the overall experience for users. The counter stern not only adds to the design's distinguisher but also provides an extra surface area that serves as a welcome pad and swim platform.

The Thunderclap design project began in 2011, with the official unveiling taking place in January 2015. Since then, it has garnered positive reactions from the public and received extensive press coverage in lifestyle and design magazines. The design has also been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Yacht and Marine Vessels category in 2016.

The Thunderclap design is a testament to the Turbocraft brand's commitment to creating instantly recognizable and iconic designs. With its blend of timeless elegance, purity of form, and functionality, the Thunderclap is set to re-establish the brand's reputation in the marine industry.
